The mornings are crippling, and so are the evenings.

You lie in bed at night afraid of what tomorrow will bring. A fresh pile of terror?

But you aren’t made for fear.

I’m not here to make a secular argument for courage. Neither a religious one. Only one that works.

There will come a time when you will look back at life and realize that you wasted all that time in anxiety when life just ended up happening the way it should have.

But anxiety is an addiction, and it’s a synonym of fear.

And you need to overcome it.

Now, how would you do that?

Anxiety is the same thing as fear.

There are many options in front of you. After all, anxiety isn’t the monster it seems in our heads. That’s the very definition of anxiety: being fearful without a proper reason.

How to Overcome Anxiety

Here are some pointers that will help you enjoy freedom from anxiety:

  • Keep to the basics: Get to bed at about the same time each night and wake up at about the same time. Eat your meals on time and get some fresh outdoor air and exercise daily. No compromise on this.
  • Maintain a physical gratitude journal: The physical part’s important. An online journal won’t help. Every day, note down a few things you are thankful for.
  • Make time daily for a sport or hobby (not virtual).
  • Build a corpus of friends and get close to some of them. Build relationships, make connections.
  • Craft positive, loving relationships with family members. Start now if you must.
  • Confront your fears. Not directly, but a little by little over time. This is called graded exposure. It’s scientific.
  • Don’t numb your fears with alcohol or drugs. They make things worse. I know.
  • Put your trust in the Lord.

That’s all. I don’t plan to sell you anything on this post.
